The field of public relations and advertising has been taught at Yarmouk University since 1980 as one of the three majors offered by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Responding to the growing need and recognition of the important role of mass communication in Jordan and worldwide, the Department has become faculty of Mass communication in 2008. Therefore, the three majors have become three departments. One of them is the Department of Public Relations and Adverting.
The Department aims to prepare its students for entry into workplace with a thorough background in public relations: its objectives, functions, process, implementation, and the factors affecting its evolution. The department is also committed itself to providing professional experiences and well-designed training courses in advertising and on how to apply it in both marketing and promotion.
To achieve such objectives, the Department has developed an ambitious curriculum benefited from others' experiences in this field. This curriculum is well-designed and planned to providing students with an educational environment equipped with systematic training courses in both public relations and advertising.
