In cooperation with Princess Basma Center for Women’s Studies in Jordan, Faculty of Mass Communication organizes the "Gender Sensitive Media Reports" training program within the framework of the "Empowering Women for Leadership Roles” Program.
Dr. Khalaf Al-Tahat, the Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, opened the training workshop “Gender Sensitive Media Reports” in the Multimedia Laboratories of the Faculty, as part of the /“Empowering Women for Leadership Roles” Program, implemented by the Princess Basma Center for Women’s Studies in Jordan in cooperation with the Forum of Federations and with funding from the Canadian Government.
Al-Tahat emphasized that the Faculty of Mass Communication has always sought to support its students in the various educational sectors, as well as training and development programs that would enhance their capacity to meet the requirements of the modern media community.
Dr. Amna Khasawneh, the director of the Center, noted that this training aims to prepare female journalists who are able to address women's issues in the media in connection with women’s rights and equity in all situations to educate the local community. She also emphasized the importance of gender justice, and clarified the concept of empowering women between rights and duties.
The opening was attended by Prof. Dr. Azzam Ananza, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, Mrs. Tala Khrais, Director of the Forum, and Mrs. Hanin Marian, coordinator of the Program / Forum of Federations.
The training targets fifteen female students and graduates from the Faculty of Mass Communication. It is divided into two training phases: Phase 1 for 3 days. Day 1 covers the concept of gender and its integration. It was implemented by the trainer Shurooq Shatnawi. The Professors Qusay Al-Rashdan and Suleiman Awawdeh, from the Faculty of Mass Communication, will implement the training on television photography, electronic montage and reporting skills in day 2 and day 3. Phase 2 of the training aims to produce a number of gender-sensitive media reports, prepared by the participants under supervision of trainers.
